This teapot of red brown clay has an elongated hexigonal shape that is reflected in miniature in the finial. The belly of the pot is composed of six panels. Two include Chinese script. A different panel displays elegant birds, and another reveals a house with mountains in the background. The birds and the script of one panel are tan and delicately painted on the clay. The mountains and second rendition of script are etched into the clay. The spout, handle, finial, and vertical borders of the panels are in a bamboo motif. Fine detail is the hallmark of Bamboo and Birds.
