Green vs. Black Teas
The other day I was reviewing a unique tri fold brochure design for a coffee and tea company. What appealed to me most were the many ornamental pots used to help illustrate the various teas the company was marketing and promoting.
From experience I can tell you a product sell sheet often works best when you illustrate one or more of the products or services you are selling.
In this case I was so inspired by the illustrations I decided to go out and get some gourmet tea. While visiting a tea retailer I found out that there is much more to tea than meets the eye. As a consumer, you stand to gain many benefits by selecting the right kind of tea. Here are some categories of tea I learned about during my adventures:
* Green Tea - Green tea as the name implies is green. Most tea is actually green, green tea simply retains its original color as it is processed without fermentation. Green tea is often touted as a weight loss promoter. It also contains many antioxidants that help combat free radical damage in the body.
* Black Tea - Sometimes referred to as red tea or hong cha, black tea is fermented prior to baking. This is how it develops its black color. Like green tea, black tea contains many antioxidants and slightly less caffeine than coffee, making it a good alternative to coffee for caffeine sensitive individuals.
* Oolong - This type of teen is a combination of green and black teas, undergoing only partial fermentation.
* White Tea - This is a rare form of tea that comes from a plant called the Camellia sinensis. It is much like green tea. It undergoes little processing and is not fermented, but has a refined, light and sweet taste to it much less bitter than traditional green teas. White tea naturally contains much less caffeine than green or black varieties.
